Gestern nahm Hamburg Abschied von seinem größten Sohn. Die Trauerfeier um Helmut Schmidt habe ich leider nicht hier vor Ort in Hamburg miterleben können, aber meine Eltern hielten mich telefonisch auf dem Laufenden und am Abend zeigte der NDR eine sehr gelungene Zusammenfassung des Tages. Immer wieder gut zu sehen, wie der Sarg auch direkt an unserem Ballindamm-Salon vorbei fuhr. Unser Rezeptzionist bestätigte mir am Abend, dass in dem Moment alle Mitarbeiter und Kunden (einschließlich unseres Münchner Kollegen Gerhard Meir) runterschauten und es für einen Moment ganz still im Salon war.
Aus diesem Anlass möchte ich heute allen Blog-Lesern und Facebook-Freunden einen Artikel ans Herz legen, welchen ich kurz nach Helmut Schmidts Tod im Internet gefunden habe. Ich finde ihn wirklich hervorragend geschrieben und sehr lesenswert, auch wenn mir bei der Passage in der es um Preise für Haarschnitte geht, die Nackenhaare zu Berge stehen. Aber aus gegebenen Anlass und Respekt, möchte ich das heute einmal nicht kommentieren. Mein Dank geht schon jetzt an den Autor Oliver Flesch und dem mir leider unbekannten Hamburger Friseurkollegen Marcus Jürs. Alle weiteren wichtigen Hinweise findet Ihr am Ende des Beitrages.
Es war rein äußerlich betrachtet ein ganz normaler Dienstag, dieser 27. Oktober 2015. Typisches Hamburger Herbstwetter, regnerisch und windig, 12 Grad; „Schietwetter“, hätte Helmut Schmidt gesagt, von dem wir damals noch dachten, er wäre unsterblich.
In der Steinstraße schloss Marcus Jürs mitten am Tag die Tür seines Friseur-Salons ab und machte sich mit seinem Köfferchen aus den fünfziger Jahren auf den Weg nach Hamburg-Langenhorn. Zum letzten Mal.
Gut fünf Jahre lang schnitt Marcus Jürs unserem Bundeskanzler a. D. die Haare. Er ist kein Prominentenfriseur, kein Udo Walz oder so, nein. Marcus serviert seinen Kunden keinen Champagner, seine Herrenschnitte kosten keine 50 Euro, sie kosten 15, wie sich das für einen aufrechten Handwerker gehört. Das passte zur Bescheidenheit Schmidts, der ja auch nicht in einer Villa in Hamburg-Blankenese wohnte, sondern in einem einfachen Haus in Langenhorn, das ein Robert Geiß wohl noch nicht einmal als Garage nutzen würde.
Einer seiner Leibwächter kam irgendwann Ende der Nullerjahre frisch frisiert zum Dienst. „Das sieht ja ganz ordentlich aus, wo haben Sie schneiden lassen?“, fragte Helmut. Er war unzufrieden mit seiner Friseurin, wollte keine Frau mehr an seine Haarpracht lassen. So kam es zu dieser merkwürdigen Verbindung zwischen Helmut und Marcus, der ja als sogenannter Rockabilly-Friseur eher für Elvis-Tollen zuständig ist. Aber hey: Helmut trug ja auch eine Tolle, wenn auch eine andere als der König des Rock ‘n‘ Roll. Er ist ihr treu geblieben, über achtzig Jahre, ließ sich auf keinen Modeirrtum ein, typisch für Schmidt, der selbst beim stürmischsten Gegenwind standhaft blieb. Sie war ihm wichtig, seine Tolle – „Vorne nicht!“, sagte er jedes Mal. „Ja, das weiß ich doch, Herr Schmidt“, erwiderte Marcus jedes Mal.Es lief immer gleich ab in den letzten fünf Jahren. Alle drei Wochen, meistens donnerstags oder freitags gegen Punkt elf Uhr morgens, kamen erst die Leibwächter und sicherten die Lage, dann Schmidt, auf seinen Stock gestützt, später im Rollstuhl. Er verlangte immer einen Trockenschnitt, na klar. So trocken wie Schmidt selbst. Es ist ja auch kaum vorstellbar, dass ein Kaugummi kauendes Mädel in seinen nassen Haaren wühlt und fragt: „Noch eine Kurpackung, Herr Schmidt?“ Helmut sprach nicht viel, wenn ihm Marcus die Seiten schnitt und den Nacken ausrasierte. Wohl auch, weil „Altern scheiße ist“, es ihm in den letzten Jahren schlecht ging, aber manchmal hatte er einen guten Tag und alberte sogar herum: „Sagen Sie mal, mein Junge, bin ich hier in einer Drogenhöhle gelandet?“, fragte er und zeigte dabei auf eine Pflanze in einem Glasröhrchen, das neben den Spiegel stand. „Ich habe keine Ahnung, Herr Schmidt, was das für Kräuter sind, die hat mir ein Freund zur Eröffnung des Ladens geschenkt und sie haben ohne großes Zutun bis heute überlebt.“ „Das sind bestimmt Drogen!“, meinte Helmut. „Na, ich hoffe nicht, Herr Schmidt. Es kann ja nicht in Ihrem Interesse sein, dass ich ins Gefängnis komme, denn von dort aus kann ich ihnen ja schlecht die Haare schneiden.“ „Ach, das ist kein Problem, mein Junge, ich lasse Sie alle drei Wochen abholen. Das regle ich schon mit der Staatsanwaltschaft.“
Manchmal saßen die beiden nach getaner Arbeit noch ein paar Minuten zusammen. Marcus schloss seinen Laden ab, sie rauchten eine Zigarette und unterhielten sich. Und im Hintergrund sang Warren Smith „Red Cadillac & A Black Moustache“. Die großartige Rock ‘n‘ Roll-Musik, die in Marcus‘ Salon stets lief, konnte Helmut, der Musik über alles liebte, nicht mehr hören – er war längst beinahe taub.Als Helmut Schmidt im letzten Sommer aus dem Krankenhaus kam, war er nicht mehr der Alte. Er kam nicht mehr in sein Büro im Zeitverlag, er kam auch nicht mehr zu Marcus, dessen Salon nur einen Steinwurf vom Verlag entfernt steht. Dafür kam Marcus zu ihm. Das letzte Mal am besagten Dienstag vor gut zwei Wochen. Helmut Schmidt hatte nicht nur körperlich, sondern auch geistig abgebaut. Als Marcus sein Köfferchen zuklappte, sagte er: „Gut, Herr Schmidt, dann bis in drei Wochen.“
„Das kann ich Ihnen nicht versprechen, mein Junge.“
Er gab Marcus die Hand, was er sonst nie tat, legte seine andere Hand obendrauf, sah zu ihm hoch und sagte: „Ich danke Ihnen für die gute Arbeit, die Sie stets geleistet haben, und wünsche Ihnen viel Erfolg und alles Gute für Ihre Zukunft.“Marcus Jürs fuhr zurück in die Steinstraße und schloss seinen Laden auf. Eine gute Freundin kam zufällig vorbei. Frauen spüren ja, wenn es uns Männern nicht gut geht.
„Was hast du denn?“, fragte sie.
„Er hat sich von mir verabschiedet.“
