Hamburg hat sich knapp gegen Olympia entschieden. Im Internet geht´s seit dem hoch her. „Die Vernunft gegenüber der Elite hat gesiegt“ schreiben jetzt die Gewinner der Wahl. „Sieg der Kleingeister“ schreiben die Verlierer. Beide Seiten greifen oft zu einer drastischen Wortwahl um den Triumph auszukosten, bzw. den Frust von der Seele schreiben zu können. Ich kann beide Seiten verstehen, denn meine Olympia-Liste mit allen Vor- und Nachteilen war beidseitig gut gefüllt. Am Ende komme ich jedoch zu dem Schluss: NOlympia hat gewonnen, Hamburg hat verloren.
Ich musste im Vorfeld bei der Olympia-Diskussion oft an meinen/unseren Kunden Herrn L. denken. Herr L. ist ein großer Freund der Kunst. Und als damals Hamburg das “Museum der Gegenwart” gebaut hat, für die Realisierung viel mehr Geld als veranschlagt benötigt wurde und viele Hamburger darauf schimpften, sagte mir Herr L.: “Herr Nicolaisen, für Kunst war noch nie Geld da. Es gibt immer eine Million gute Gründe Geld lieber in soziale Projekte oder Infrastruktur zu stecken als in Kunst. Das war schon immer so. Ludwig der 14. hätte auch lieber seinen Bürgern helfen sollen als Versailles zu bauen. Die Lage, besonders die soziale Schieflache, war damals ja noch viel dramatischer als heute. Und was hat überdauert? Wohin pilgern die Menschen noch heute? Genau. Eine Mona Lisa im Louvre oder die Gemälde von Leonardo Da Vinci in Rom inspirieren Menschen auf der ganzen Welt noch heute und sorgen für nachhaltige, geistige Bewegung. Das mag in dem Moment der Entstehung für viele nicht sichtbar sein und daher für unbedeutend empfunden werden, wird aber kommende Generationen beeinflussen. Und so können wir Bürger nur hoffen, dass unsere Politiker (als unsere geistigen Führer) immer ein gesundes Mittelmaß finden. Mal müssen geistige, inspirierende und visionäre Großprojekte hinter einer aktuellen Situation zurückstehen. Keine Frage. Aber manchmal muss man Visionen auch durchsetzen. Gegen allen Widerstand, welchen es immer geben wird. Immer.“
Ich überlasse es Euch wie Ihr diesen Gedanken aufnehmt und interpretiert. Mich hat diese Unterhaltung jedenfalls bis heute in meinem Denken beeinflusst. Und vielleicht wären „Elbphilharmonie“ und „Olympia“ ja auch wirklich zu viel für Hamburg gewesen. Man kann nicht alles haben. Ich jedoch bin mir sicher, dass Olympia unsere Stadt am Ende wertvoller und lebenswerter gemacht hätte. Ob ich mit meinem Gefühl recht behalten hätte oder nicht, werden wir nie beantworten können.
Bleibt am Ende ein ganz anderer, bitterer Beigeschmack. Gestern Abend wollten mir doch tatsächlich Politiker im Fernsehen einreden, dass eine Wahlbeteiligung von ca. 50% ein Erfolg ist. Fünfzig Prozent! Das bedeutet, dass die Hälfte aller Hamburger bei solch einer einfachen Frage “Ja oder Nein zu Olympia” keine Meinung hatten. Oder es nicht für wichtig empfanden ihre Meinung in eine Stimme umzuwandeln. Ganz ehrlich? Das regt mich viel viel viel mehr auf als das Ergebnis. Was ist mit unserer Gesellschaft passiert? Kein Mum? Zu bequem? Zu doof? Keine Meinung? Und was sind das für Politiker, die es als Erfolg werten wenn die Hälfte der Bürger einer Stadt sich nicht an einer Wahl beteiligen, dessen Ausgang die Heimatstadt und damit das Leben jedes Einzelnen spürbar und nachhaltig verändern kann? Politiker, die vielleicht heimlich von einer 50%igen Wahlbeteiligung träumen – wissend, dass bei der nächsten Bundes- oder Bürgerschaftswahl wahrscheinlich noch weniger Bürger von ihrem Wahlrecht gebrauch machen? Allein das macht mich traurig und lässt mich etwas schwermütig in die neue Woche starten. Schade.
